SWE-PPS Meeting: Life of a Semiconductor/Fab Engineer

The October SWE meeting will be at 6:30pm on Monday, October 2nd. We will be meeting at JR Engineering: 4310 Arrowswest Dr, 80907 (Garden of the Gods and 30th). The topic is "Life of a semiconductor/fab engineer". The presenters are Aimee Smith and Civa Mause from Intel. They will be giving this presentation at the national SWE conference in Kansas City in mid-October.

Abstract: We've often heard of the 'fab' or fabrication area as referenced to the semiconductor industry. This presentation will dispel the 'mystery' of the fab and explain what takes place in there. What is a wafer and what material does it consist of? What areas are in the fab, what happens to the wafers in each area, what machines are used? The various ways we ensure quality product and reduce miss-process will be discussed. It will also discuss the transition of wafer sizes to 300mm and challenges to the process as die sizes get smaller.
