Walking Tour of the Arts in Downtown Colorado Springs

The next SWE-PPS networking meeting will be held at 5:30 on Thursday, May 22nd and will be a walking tour of the Art on the Streets in downtown Colorado Springs. Hold the date and watch your email for meeting information.

Send a Girl to Science Camp

Every year, District 20 holds a science camp during the summer. This year's camp is titled Innovations with Industry and features both Electrical Engineering and Computer Programming tracks. Last year, only three of sixty campers were girls. In order to get more girls to attend, SWE-PPS is sponsoring up to four scholarships for girls to attend. Tuition for camp is $280. We are asking our members to make donations and SWE-PPS will match those donations up to $560. Your donation is tax deductible and we will send you a receipt. See the link below for more information about the program.

An important goal of SWE is to give girls the opportunity to become interested in engineering. This is just such an opportunity…please consider supporting this.

SWE-PPS Executive Board Nominations

It is time once again to call for members to serve on the SWE-PPS Executive Board. Several of our Board Members have served many years and are not planning on remaining on the Board next year. Therefore we need new Board members. Membership on the Board takes a commitment of less than five hours per month for a one year term starting in July. We have monthly meetings which last about 1.5 hours plus there are some tasks related to each position.

At this time, only the President (Beth Blakney) and the Treasurer (Connie King) plan to remain. We are looking for a Vice President, Secretary and Council of Representatives (COR) Section Representative. The COR Rep must be able to attend National Conference but there are no other prerequisites. If you would like to support the organization in this way, please contact Beth Blakney at bethblakney@macconnect.com by the end of April.
